I’m not a real life bridge constructor but I do know a rickety bridge when I see one. If your bridges don’t look like they’d work in real life then chances are they won’t work in the game. I saw the news about a new game, I wanted to buy it, but I didnt do it because of the lack of support for Windows 7. Like you’d expect with a game riffing off of Portal, there’s actual science. I sometimes play Bridge Constructor Portal, I basically liked it, although I havent passed it yet. That’s what I thought too, but building bridges can be fun! That didn’t sound too convincing either, did it? There are still portals, sure, but now there are… bridges! Yeah, okay it sounds pretty boring doesn’t it. Using this data we were able to convince our first 2 liquor stores in LA to stock us. That video went viral and thousands of people from across the country started texting in asking how they could get 하드Nectar. We turned to TikTok to share our story and put our phone number in the video just to see if we had completely missed on this idea, or if there were actually people out there that believe in our idea as much as we did. The store owners didn’t want to take a risk at the height of Covid on a brand with 0 followers on social media and 0 proven sales. We went to over 200 liquor stores in LA and although no-one flat out said no, no-one said yes either. Covid wrecked us in so many ways but we persevered and put almost all of our small life savings into the business to just get to the point where we had a few pallets of product and could get to selling. We set out to create 하드Nectar, the first asian-inspired hard seltzer, at the end of 2019 with plans to launch in Spring of 2020 but no-one saw covid coming. In a year that literally was defined by people separating themselves from one another, people coming together and supporting us is what completely change the course of our business overnight. It’s almost cliche to say but 하드Nectar would be nothing without our community of fans. Hi John, what do you attribute your success to? We had the good fortune of connecting with John Dalsey and we’ve shared our conversation below. He has has steered the brand’s award-winning restaurant operations and training departments and will now focus more specifically on day-to-day operations of the business as a whole. He quickly moved into the area representative manager role and then director of operations before being promoted to vice president of operations in 2016. Vaught joined Penn Station in 2006 as an area representative after two summer internships. We’re already seeing success from these strategic moves, and we have now aligned our entire team to support our aggressive growth.” We recruited a new Vice President of Development and Strategy and built an experienced development team in 2021. With the implementation of our PS 2020 menu and restaurant design, which positions the brand in consumers’ minds for the next 15 years, we recognized it was time to execute a more aggressive growth strategy. “In 2019, we wanted to ensure we aligned our growth strategy with our operational capabilities. “We’ve always been an operationally centric brand,” Dunaway says. With more than three decades of experience in the restaurant industry and 23 years with Penn Station specifically, Dunaway is well prepared to spearhead Penn Station’s growth over the next chapter of the brand’s 37-year history. He will oversee the implementation of Penn Station’s growth strategies while making sure the brand continues to invest in the infrastructure necessary to support this growth. In his new role as chief operating officer, Dunaway will focus on steering the Penn Station brand to 600+ locations. Dunaway has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is still a licensed CPA. He also previously had ownership interests in a Papa John’s franchisee with 11 locations and 18 Penn Station franchise locations, in both developed and developing markets. Before joining Penn Station Inc., Dunaway was a partner at the regional accounting firm of McCauley, Nicolas & Company, LLC in Louisville, Kentucky where he had worked since 1982 in various staff and managerial positions. I know franchisees, and the brand as a whole, are in great hands as we move toward eventually having 600 locations.”ĭunaway joined Penn Station as president in 1999. “Craig and Lance have been with Penn Station for a combined 39 years and both have an excellent track record and are very well respected in the industry and the franchise community. “Penn Station is poised for major growth in the next five to seven years, and these promotions were warranted and necessary to ensure our great team can continue to support our franchisees and the brand while we grow,” says Jeff Osterfeld, founder and CEO of Penn Station. Lance Vaught has been promoted from Senior Vice President of Operations to President and Craig Dunaway has been promoted from President to Chief Operating Officer. We were amazed customers didn’t realize we offered cold subs, but by featuring and highlighting them on the menu, this allows guests to fill all their sandwich needs.”įounded in 1985, Penn Station has more than 310 locations across 15 states.Penn Station East Coast Subs, the fast-casual restaurant known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, has announced two key executive promotions. Penn Station has always had cold sandwiches as an option, but now we are offering new flavor profiles and ingredients and bringing our competitive edge to cold sandwiches. “In today’s hyper-competitive environment, we saw an opportunity to be dominant in cold sandwiches as well. “We believe our grilled sandwiches have always stood out from the competition, as evidenced by the numerous local, regional and national awards we’ve earned over the years,” Dunaway says. Penn Station’s revised menu includes the addition of cold sandwiches as well as wraps and salads. Customers pick up online and delivery orders in a different location within the restaurant, so customers do not have to wait in line to pick up their orders. The new design places both POS stations in the front of the restaurant which allows customers to place and pay for their orders in one spot. The PS 2020 design offers an unimpeded view of employees making sandwiches and a more prominently placed deli case. From the data analysis, interviews and hours of observation, we knew we had something that everyone would embrace.” “We spent the better part of a year gathering data, interviewing guests and franchisees, and speaking with crew members about the new layout and our menu changes. “We expect to have more restaurants with the PS 2020 layout by the spring of next year,” says chain President Craig Dunaway. Nine restaurants are operating with the new menu and design and all units in the system now have the new menu. Penn Station East Coast Subs continues to update the 35-year-old brand with the rollout of its PS 2020 initiative, which includes a restaurant redesign and menu changes among other additions. This book offers a detailed examination that seeks to offer clarity if not agreement in the midst of an intense intellectual conflict and polarity amongst Muslims. It is shown that his framework can be used to reach an alignment between Islam and Neo-Darwinian evolution. By understanding al-Ghazālī as an Ashʿarite theologian, a particular strand of Sunnī theology, his metaphysical and hermeneutic ideas are taken to explore if and how much Neo-Darwinian evolution can be accepted. This work views the discussion through the lens of al-Ghazālī (1058–1111), a widely known and well-respected Islamic intellectual from the medieval period. It guides the reader through the different variables that have played a part in the ongoing dialogue between Muslim creationists and evolutionists. This book attempts to equip the reader with a holistic and accessible account of Islam and evolution. Keywords Islamic ethics – maqāṣid al-sharīʿa – Muʿtazila, Ashāʿira – divine command theory – natural law – Qurʾan and ethics. The theory of maqāṣid is here clearly presumed to be a normative one rather than simply descriptive. The arguments are based on the work of some classical and contemporary scholars who have noted the contradiction in the traditional maqāṣid theory, and on the views of those scholars whose ethical views and principles expressed an understanding of morality that contradicts with ethical voluntarism or 'divine command theory' in ethics. The last and the longest section of the article develops arguments that would admit human reason in formulating the maqāṣid and suggests that this requires a different ethical foundation, one that is closer to the Muʿtazilite conception of morality. The article examines the meta-ethical presup-positions of the Qurʾan, arguing that Qurʾanic ethics allows for rethinking the meta-ethical foundation of the maqāṣid, since it accepts objective moral values and allows for moral epistemology that is based on reason. It starts by introducing the Ashʿarite meta-ethics, and in two subsections briefly elucidates the perceived relation between meta-ethics and normative ethics and the relation between ethics, Islamic jurisprudence (uṣūl al-fiqh) and speculative theology (ʿilm al-kalām). The aim of this article is to critique the meta-ethical foundation of the purposes of law theory (maqāṣid al-sharīʿa).
